CanAlaska Stakes 11,143 Hectare Constellation Project in Eastern Athabasca Basin
CanAlaska Uranium Ltd. (TSX.V: CVV) (OTCQB: CVVUF) (FSE: DH7N), recently announced the expansion of its massive land holdings in the Athabasca Basin with the addition of the 11,143 hectare Constellation project.
The Athabasca Basin, located in northern Saskatchewan, Canada, is one of the world’s top producers of high-grade uranium. It is also home to some of the world’s most prospective uranium exploration and development projects.
This new Constellation project is located within the eastern end of the Basin, approximately 140 kilometres east-southeast of the town of La Loche, Sask., and 55 kilometres east of CanAlaska’s Akomtik property. CanAlaska now controls the approximately 240 kilometre long corridor of properties in the eastern Athabasca basin.
The Constellation project is host to a number of compelling targets with potential to host uranium-bearing deposits similar to the Peerless Zone, located approximately three kilometres south of the project boundary.
The Peerless Zone is a high-grade uranium deposit associated with uranium mineralization in boulder float that was discovered in the 1950’s. Historic channel sample results reported by the Saskatchewan Geological Survey included up to 9% uranium oxide (U3O8) over 0.6 metres.
CanAlaska will continue to test high priority targets on the Constellation project for uranium mineralization. Previous regional exploration by CanAlaska has identified several near surface boulder fields containing elevated levels of uranium.
CanAlaska’s President, Peter Dasler, commented “We have identified a number of compelling targets at Constellation, and the acquisition of these properties will significantly expand our already large exploration portfolio in the East Athabasca. Our geophysical datasets are some of the most comprehensive here and our ongoing work continues to identify further targets in certain great mineralized corridors.”
With a team of experienced professionals dedicated to the exploration of the Athabasca Basin and a long history of geophysical surveying, CanAlaska is well positioned to make the next discovery in the region.
CanAlaska is an enthusiastic explorer looking to bring economic opportunities to the people of Saskatchewan. With this new addition of the Constellation project, CanAlaska looks forward to continued success in the Athabasca Basin.
